In my twenties, I found myself, like many icons that inspire me, Kerouac, McCandless, Thelma and Louise, hitting the road to find myself and the meaning of life, however cliché that may sound. 49 states and 16 countries later...im still on the road.

some travel tips....

1. Dont let yourself get backed into situations you cant get out - whether you are pulling a trailer or speaking with a stranger.

2. AAA TripTrik (click on get directions) is the best source to planning a roadtrip and you dont need to have a membership to use (although I am a member because its invaluable for roadside assistance even when your at home and discounts at most motels). They also have an awesome app for your iphone or ipad.

3. Always have extra water in the car

4. In my car I have at all time- water gallons, battery starter, fix-a-flat, rope, bungee cords, tarp, my leatherman multi-tool, a knife, mase and a flashlight

5. Always look at possible routes and areas the night before so when you are driving the next day you are familiar with names and signage.

6. I never usually book hotels/campsites or have a stritic schedule because it is more stressful on the road when you have "have to's" or run into delays.
